Each month we'll bring you interesting stories about the wild things and wild places in Texas we all care about. For more than 20 years, Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation has leveraged private philanthropy to conserve and steward Texas' lands, waters, wildlife and cultural resources.
Thank you for your continued support,
Anne Brown

The recent acquisition of Powderhorn Ranch is conserving one of the largest remaining tracts of unspoiled coastal prairie land in Texas. The 17,351-acre property will one day be a state park and wildlife management area, showcasing more than eleven miles of tidal bay front, wetlands and coastal live oak forests and providing habitat for hundreds of species of birds and animals, including the endangered whooping crane. This transformational project will conserve irreplaceable wildlife habitat and will bring the people of Texas a spectacular new recreational opportunity along the coast.
It's an excellent example of both public and private entities working together for the long-term benefit of Texas and its citizens. With your support, this coastal treasure will be experienced and enjoyed by generations of Texans.

Did you know that every year more than 15,000 volunteers across the state give more than 1 million hours of time to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department programs? They do everything from planting a tree in a state park to helping grow a fish in a hatchery to teaching outdoor skills to children. Volunteer power has an immeasurable impact on our state's wild things and wild places!
