Texas Game Wardens play a critical role in supporting first responder agencies in times of natural disasters. During the devastating floods in May 2015, Texas Game Wardens responded to hundreds of calls including 113 flood related rescues and 7 victim recoveries. Thanks to TPWF donors like you, our wardens are well prepared. The Search and Rescue Team, the K-9 Team, the Aviation Unit and the Dive Team all played a crucial role in responding to the flooding disaster.

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Lone Star Land Stewards program, which honors Texas landowners who do an exemplary job of conserving their piece of Texas. Since 1996, the program has recognized nearly 200 landowners across Texas for conserving more than 3 million acres of fish and wildlife habitat. This year seven winners were selected, including Dr. Robert McFarlane for his work at the Bigwoods on the Trinity. Click the link below and be inspired by this conservation hero!

Sunday, June 21st marks the 2015 Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year, the first official day of summer, and a favorite time to visit Texas State Parks.
While some parks have been damaged by recent floods, most are partially or fully open, and they need your help now more than ever.
Here are four ways to support Texas State Parks:
- Visit a state park. (You can check the status of Texas State Parks here.)
- Join TPWF as a member—your membership gift goes directly to the highest and most urgent needs of the park system.
- Volunteer for a State Park Friends Group.
- Share photos of your state park trip or volunteer project using #I‹3TXParks.
